Escudilla Wild

Escudilla Wild is a shorter version of the full El Lobo Lupus that focuses on the eastern region of the White Mountains. Riders start in downtown Springerville, AZ with a climb up into the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. At over 9000 feet in elevation, they ride through subalpine meadows and forests before making their way to Big Lake. From here, its a descent to the Black River followed by a climb up and over to Nutrioso. Bikepackers ride up Escudilla Mountain, summit the lookout with a hike, and ride around Terry Flat before descending to Alpine, AZ. Finally, riders pass by Luna Lake to trace the hulking perimeter base of Escudilla Mountain. Bikepackers enter the high grasslands of the Sipe White Mountain Wildlife Area and finish by riding downhill back into Springerville.
