The past school year has been one of the busiest in my teaching career. A notable outcome of that work has been a shear lack of writing on my part both here and for my own journaling purposes. I'm hoping to sever that outcome and replace it with a more consistent writing basis. To start, I'll be (intending at least) to do some daily updates on the bikepacking route that Janna and I are doing through Canada this summer. We leave Monday (tomorrow) for our drive up to Whitefish where we'll leave our car for nearly a month-long ride on what I'm calling the Canadian Rockies Loop. That ride starts Wednesday.
We'll start outside Whitefish and pedal our way around Glacier National Park before heading into Alberta and Waterton Lakes National Park. The route we'll be taking on this route will be divided into two pieces: (a) riding the ACA's Great Parks - North Route, (b) riding the ACA's Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. The Great Parks section with a northbound attempt by us on paved roads up the Icefield Parkway eventually arriving in Jasper. Once here, we'll turn south and ride the GDMBR back down to Whitefish and Columbia Falls. As Going-to-the-Sun Road is currently closed due to late season snow and avalanches, we're going to end our ride doing a massive out-and-back ride on it (because it's definitely a goal of mine to bike that beautiful route).
